Gratitude Gratuity (5/155 SONNET)

Please lay it on really thickly for me
I have lived with the hugest assumptions
That now seem so decidedly off key
When faced with warm grace and not destruction
I have this second chance to live my life
A sense of deep spiritual renewal
the liberation of freedoms sweet knife
that cuts away the cynics accrual
It's strange when to hate becomes so normal
to look on life with disdain and displeasure
Signing a treaty to make it formal
I thought I'd see things this way forever
But now I gouge out the critics cold eye
and I rejoice in this long last goodbye
